What You Need

How To Make

1. Print and cut out the template. Use the pattern to cut out your felt pieces.

(Hint: it takes 12 petals to make one sunflower coaster. I’ve included colored images of both the acorn and sunflower for reference on the printable.)

2. Blanket stitch around the edges of your acorn top, acorn bottom, and sunflower center.

3. Hot glue your acorn top on top of your acorn bottom (overlapping slightly). Hot glue your sunflower petals to the backside of your sunflower center.

(Hint: since there are 12 petals per flower, you can space them out most evenly by attaching two straight across from each other first, then two more straight across from each other, centered between your first two. After that, place two petals in each of the remaining gaps.)

I love how affordable and simple these are to make, and how they add such a fun, fall element to the breakfast table. I especially like how the sunflowers turned out. These would also make a great addition to a breakfast gift basket!

At our house, we drink milk with pretty much every meal (the evidence: the fact that there are only three of us, and five gallons of milk currently in my fridge); but, at breakfast time, milk is king! Growing up, my mom taught me the importance of drinking milk every day: she taught me that is was good for my bones, and a great source of protein. Milk is naturally nutrient rich and powers potential, if you have access to it. Milk’s 9 essential nutrients, including 8 grams of high-quality protein per 8 ounce serving, can help to ensure that kids have the potential to play, learn and grow.

And, when it comes to having something quick, tasty, and filling, we couldn’t go without bagels. My husband use to be a cereal-every-morning kind of guy; but, when we got married I started buying bagels. One day he told me, “I’ve had so much more energy at work in the mornings lately. Usually I’m hungry for lunch within just a couple hours, but I realized that the days I eat bagels, I feel so much more full.”

Lender’s bagels are great, and they’ve got lots of yummy flavors to choose from (our favorite are the cinnamon-raisin—delicious)!

Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions are the perfect thing to round out your breakfast. We’ve just stared making these a part of our breakfast recently, and I love that you feel like you’re just eating fruit, but you’re also getting veggies as well. Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions is the only fruit cup product that provides one serving of fruits and veggies in a single cup.

Kids shouldn’t have to worry about where there next meal is going to come from, or if they will have basic staples, like milk, available to them.Childhood should be filled with playing, learning and growing.

Right now, when you purchase Great Value milk, Lender’s Bagels, or Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions, you can help a child in need. These brands are teaming up with Feeding America in The Great American Milk Drive to provide milk to families in need. I think it’s great when you can make a difference simply by doing something you already do—you know, like getting groceries! More than 14 million servings of milk have been delivered to food banks through this first-of-its-kind initiative. Childhood should be filled with playing, learning and growing.

You can find everything you need to “Build a Better Breakfast” at your local Walmart. Great Value Milk can be found in the refrigerated dairy section as well as Lender’s Bagels (found next to the cream cheese). Look for specially marked Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions packages on shelf at Walmart for valuable coupons for Del Monte and Lenders products.

Have fun making these lovely felt fall coasters! How do you like to decorate your table for fall?
