After making some pretty cherry blossom votives for my husband’s birthday celebration last month, I knew I needed to make more for Valentine’s Day. They are just so simple, and create such a nice ambiance!

Be sure to see this post for a tutorial on how to put tea light votives like this one together.

In my last post, I talked about not really having a game plan for Valentine’s Day this year, but I think I’ve finally come up with a fun little idea. When I was young, I remember my mom planning these little scavenger hunts for my dad to surprise him. At the end of the scavenger hunt, there would be a simple gift like some balloons or candy bars. The point wasn’t that the gift was extravagant, but that it was thoughtful and fun for both him and even us kids. Solving the riddle and finding the next clue just never got old!

I remember thinking that I would do the same thing for my husband one day: plan fun, spontaneous scavenger hunts for him. In the almost five years we’ve been married now, I’ve only done it once. So, this V-day, I’ve planned out a bunch of rhyming clues for him to follow, and a few little gifts to be placed throughout the hunt. It’s nothing super fancy, but I think he’ll enjoy it (and I’m sure Davian will love helping him, just like I did with my dad).

Whether you’ve got a simple idea for Valentine’s Day (like me), or you’re planning something absolutely extraordinary, this lovely little Valentine tea light votive is sure to be a perfect addition!
