Fairytales can come true, you gotta make ’em happen, it all depends on you. It’s time to immerse yourself in another fairytale today, because the latest installment of my Disney Paper Lantern series is here! Enjoy the upbeats sounds of New Orleans and be on the lookout for amphibians looking for a smooch in this Princess and the Frog paper lantern.
As always, it was a challenge deciding which scene(s) to include in this design. I remember finding the wedding scene so captivating when I watched the movie for the first time, so I decided that it would be my main focus. Plus, it gave me the opportunity to design lots of fun animal friends!
In the end, I feel like this design is similar to my Beauty and the Beast lantern: the main scene takes up three panels, drawing the eye into the focal point (Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen, of course), with one stylized panel depicting an important feature of the movie (some swingin’ Jazz instruments in this case).
Tiana is my sister’s favorite princess, so I’m sure she is going to be thrilled about this design! I think she will enjoy the way I brought out the details of Tiana’s dress (even with her being so small).
To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.
Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly.
Enjoy my latest Disney creation! I love making these lanterns, and seeing the positive responses I get from sharing them makes me so happy. Do you have any fun plans for this Princess and the Frog paper lantern?
