I may have mentioned this before, but am the oldest of 10 kids (that’s right, 10 kids)! So my dad (and mom, but today’s post is about my dad, because, you know…Father’s Day) has always had his hands full. Whether it was driving me to tennis tournaments or telling me he was proud of me no matter what, my dad has always been my anchor.
So, like I mentioned, there are 10 kids in my family. You might also be interested to know that my mom has been a stay-at-home parent ever since kid number two came along. Now you’re probably thinking, “Wow, you’re dad must be a dentist, or engineer, or money laundering politician or something,” but my dad is actually a high school teacher! (Fun fact: my mom also has a teaching degree and use to teach elementary school)
I know I’ve already bragged about my dad in pervious blogs, but I just can’t say enough about how awesome he really is! I was always my dad’s “little buddy” as a kid. He would take me on daddy daughter dates all the time, and I loved it! I remember seeing Jurassic Park 3 with him (I closed my eyes approximately 70% of the time) and Godzilla (same story). I always wanted to be brave for my dad.
We went to Universal Studios when I was about four years old. Standing there in line, I anxiously waited to go on the Jurassic Park ride with my dad! When we got to the front of the line they measured me and found I wasn’t tall enough. I was crushed. I told them, “But I’m really brave, I won’t be scared.” Totally melted my dad’s heart. They still didn’t let me go on the ride, and tearily I waited for my dad to get off and tell me how great it was.
Luckily, we went back a year or two later, and this time I reached the height requirement! (See that little girl in the purple Pocahontas shirt? That’s me!)
Is that not the face of the bravest (most terrified) little girl you’ve ever seen!? I’ve got my hands in the air and everything!
So, for the the anchor in my life, I’ll be giving him a special present for Father’s Day: the Nautica Voyage Gift Set! The message behind the Nautica Voyage Gift Set is representative of a journey through life. I feel incredibly lucky to have so many positive memories with my dad throughout my journey!
You can pick up the Nautica Voyage Gift Set at Macy’s
To go along with this gift, and keeping with the nautical theme, I’ve designed a fun Father’s Day card.
Print off this cute card, and let the anchor in your life know just how much you care about them this Father’s Day!
I’ve shared a couple of goofy memories about my dad, now it’s your turn! What fun memories do you have with your dad?
