Aladdin Paper Lantern

A whole new…blog! It’s time for another Disney-themed freebie featuring, you guessed it—Aladdin! I had so much fun turning an iconic scene from Tangled into a paper lantern last month, that I just couldn’t resist doing another one. Aladdin was always a favorite of mine as a kid, and I have great memories of seeing the live show at California Adventure. I’m sad that the Aladdin show is no more (being replaced by Frozen), but I thought this would be a good opportunity to pay homage to the fun-filled classic. So, let this Aladdin paper lantern take you wonder by wonder; over, sideways, and under, on a magic carpet ride!

Be sure to check out my other Disney paper lantern designs in this series!

I’ve included both a printable PDF and an SVG cut file in the download, so if you have a Cricut or Silhouette, you’ll be able to cut these out in a cinch.

When you think of Aladdin, I feel like it’s the dreamy scene of Aladdin and Jasmine flying on a magic carpet over Agrabah that first comes to mind. I had so much fun constructing Jasmine’s castle and showing Aladdin and Jasmine soaring into the clouds.

To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.

I use a Cricut Explore to do my die cut designs, and I absolutely love it! For tips on creating this delicate paper cut, see the FAQ section on my website.

Isaac and I are taking a trip to Disneyland in less than a month, so I’ve got Disney on the brain! If you’re a Disney-lover, like myself, you’ll want to stay tuned in the upcoming weeks—there’s plenty more Disney fun to come. And, you’ll definitely wan to check out my Disney princess silhouettes (Princess Jasmine is included)!

This Aladdin paper lantern is the perfect craft for a Disney fan, and I personally think it would make a stunning centerpiece for a wedding! Isaac and I danced to A Whole New World at our wedding reception, so this lantern design seems to fit the wedding mold really well in my brain.

I hope you enjoy putting these pretty lanterns together and admiring the little details as much as I did. Happy crafting!

Love these! They are so cute and I’m a huge disney fan! I’ve been looking to get a cutting machine for a while. What do you recommend the Silhouette or Cricut?

Thanks Christine! So glad you like them. I’ve never used a Silhouette myself, but when I read reviews before getting my Cricut most people who used both agreed that Cricut was much more user friendly. From my experience, I would totally agree with that! From the first day I used it, I couldn’t believe how simple it was to set up and start cutting. I’m constantly amazed at the endless possibilities (I’ve even cut materials like rubber with it), it’s really easy upload your own designs, and maintenance, like changing the blades is really easy too. My Cricut has become my favorite crafting tool for sure!

This was so cute for a diaper cake topper. The cutting was hard of course since I had to do it by hand but it was beautiful the person I did it for absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to try the rest they are beautiful. I’ll make one of each just for my daughter to have one of each in her room. There was quite a few I would like to see as well like the princess from brave or Bambi those would be very cute as well.

Hello! I was wondering what size paper you would use for this activity? DO you need a longer mat or the standard cricut mat for cutting?

Hi Joelle! I design all of my templates to fit an 8.5″x11″ sheet of paper (so you can use it on a standard size cutting mat), but you can certainly scale it up to be larger if you want to. 🙂
