I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since I was on vacation. I’ve talked about how much fun we had at Disneyland, but we actually made another stop while we were in southern California—Universal Studios. And that means a trip to Kings Cross, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and Hogwarts itself; aka, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Today I’m sharing some of the magic with this hand drawn Harry Potter clip art for wizards and muggles alike.
if you’re a nerd living in the west, like myself, you probably squealed with glee when you found out they were planning to make the Harry Potter World of Orlando a reality in Universal Studios Hollywood. Well fellow west coast nerds, as of April 7, our dreams became reality!
Strolling through The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was absolutely incredible! The amount of detail that went into everything was just spectacular, and it was so easy to get sucked into the story. A little too easy in fact: it took every ounce of willpower I had not to buy a wand. The mental exchange that was on repeat in my head went a little something like this:
Right Brain: “Oh wow, look at all these wands: this looks just like the movie! I have to have one.”
Left Brain: “No, you don’t. They are $50: that’s WAY too much money.”
RB: “But look, they have Snape’s wand. He’s your favorite character, and it would be so awesome!
LB: “But what the heck do you do with it when you get home. It will just sit on your dresser collecting dust. And, like I said, it’s WAY too much money.”
RB: “Maybe I could make a stand for it and display it in my office. And look at the bags they come in—the Ollivander’s logo is beautiful! You’d be paying for more than a wand—you’d be paying for the whole experience.”
LB: “You’re ridiculous, this is exactly what they want you to think!”
RB: “I know…but—”
LB: “I said NO!”
(Sigh) So, in the end, logic won out, and I didn’t spend $50 on a wand…this time. But, I didn’t go away empty-handed. I’m a sucker for stuffed animals (yes, I’m a grown-up, so what); so, when I saw all the different owls at The Owl Post shop (and the price—much cheaper than a wand), I just couldn’t resist.
Everything at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was spectacular: riding the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, eating at The Three Broomsticks, trying butterbeer, interacting with the cast, the whole nine yards! I’m so glad we have a version close to Utah now, and I can’t wait to go back!
Enjoy using my hand drawn Harry Potter motifs with your next magical design or photo! Have you been to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter before? What was your favorite thing about it?
