Mother’s Day—the day we celebrate the awesome ladies in our life—is almost upon us! If you’ve found the perfect gift for your mom/grandma already, then all you need is a fun card to go with it. Well, you’re in luck; because, today, I’ve got some super cute mother animal cards and envelopes to share with you.
Aren’t these just so fun? In my last blog post, I shared some adorable mother/baby animal clip art in honor of Mother’s Day. I liked the finished product so much that I couldn’t resist using it myself. But, as fun as it was making some cute cards, I just had to make some matching envelopes to go with them.
And now, also in celebration of Mother’s Day, here are some random memories I have of my mom and grandma:
- Even though I’ve been taught how to use a sewing machine (multiple times), I’ve never been great at it. This didn’t stop teenage me from buying a bunch of fabric one day and deciding to make a blanket. My vision was simple enough, and, before I knew it, I was half way done sewing the darn thing! Then, I turned it over and realized that I had been gradually sewing a fold into the backside the entire time… I spent the next couple hours unpicking the mess and my mom sewed the whole blanket for me.
- My grandma and I share a deep love of salt! One of my favorite memories is when she would take me to the local “Stop ‘n Shop” and we would split a huge container full of french fries that we would put copious (and likely very unhealthy) amounts of salt on.
- My mom and I have pretty similar sounding voices. Throughout most of high school, I didn’t have a cell phone; so, if my friends wanted to get ahold of me, they would have to call the house phone. My mom would often answer and pretend to be me until they finally realized who it was. I would try to do the same thing and trick my dad when he would call (and it occasionally worked).
- My grandma has a gift for noticing and remembering what people’s favorite food/drinks are. The summer before we got married, Isaac lived with my grandparents. She noted how much he liked Minute Maid drinks, and made a point to buy a case of them whenever she went shopping. My grandpa thought she was going a bit overboard with how much Minute Maid she was buying, so she would occasionally have Isaac or I sneak it into the house [prohibition era-style] so that Grandpa wouldn’t find out.
Random memories are some of my favorite to recall and reminisce about. Often times, the things that stick out to one person aren’t even something the other person remembers happening at all, which makes it extra fun. So, this Mother’s Day, enjoy making one of these cute mother animal cards, and maybe share a random memory with the awesome women in your life!
