Nativity Paper Lantern

Hark the herald angels sing! ‘Tis the season of gift giving, treat baking, and Christmas music 24/7. Today I have a special design that is sure to add to the festive atmosphere. This lovely nativity paper lantern will make a perfect addition to your mantel or as a centerpiece for your Christmas dinner!

If you follow my blog, you know that I typically only make Disney-themed paper lanterns, but when I got the idea (or, more accurately, when my husband gave me the idea) for this nativity paper lantern, I just had to see it through. And boy am I glad I did!

I ended up making 15 of these intricate lanterns for my church’s Christmas party (talk about getting my money’s worth out of my Cricut)! Luckily, I was able to enlist the help of the young women in our ward to help put them all together. Everyone at the party was enamored by these lanterns, and it made me so happy to see people admire my work! And, as a “thank you,” I let each of the girls who helped take one home.

To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.

I use a Cricut Explore to do my die cut designs, and I absolutely love it! For tips on creating this delicate paper cut, see the FAQ section on my website.

Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly.

Enjoy making this special nativity paper lantern and adding a little “light” to the Light of Christ in your home this year! Merry Christmas!

I love, love, love your lanterns! And this one … beautiful! I read a tip on removing from the mat. Was it from you, or somewhere else?? Instead of removing the paper from the mat, remove the mat from the paper by flipping over and gently pulling the mat up while the paper stays on the table. Works GREAT for your intricate cuts!

Yes, that is an excellent tip! I always do that when removing my cuts, but that’s a good tip for people who maybe aren’t use to removing such intricate designs. Glad you enjoy my paper lanterns!!

I have scaled this to fit inside an A9 envelope & they will be my Christmas cards this year. I made the inside vellum into 4 separate pieces so that the luminaire will lay flatter to be mailed. Thank you so much for all of your beautiful designs. They are amazing!
