Hakuna matata everyone! You’re in for a treat, because today I’ve got a brand new installment in my Disney Paper Lanterns series to share with you. Make this exquisite Lion King paper lantern for your next crafty project, and you’ll be sure to have “no worries.”
This design is one that has been requested multiple times. I was going to save it until it was closer to the new movie release date (July 19), but felt like I just couldn’t put it off any longer.
It didn’t take me very long to decide which version of Simba to portray in this design—the scene with him being held up as a baby is just too iconic to pass up! But I still wanted to include Timon and Pumbaa “hanging out” (get it?).
And, of course, I couldn’t forget our conniving villain, could I?
Oftentimes, with my paper lantern designs, the shapes across the top are fairly uniform. This one is pretty unique in that I utilized that space for some of the biggest parts of the story.
To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.
I use a Cricut Maker to do my die cut designs, and I absolutely love it! For tips on creating this delicate paper cut, see the FAQ section on my website.
Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly.
Enjoy putting my Lion King paper lantern together! Do you know anyone who is a big Lion King fan? And are you looking forward to the new movie?

Wanted to let you know: for some reason McAfee keeps flagging your page when I click on the link via email. I have to type in your main webaddress and navigate to the blog post. Not sure why it’s flagged. All it tells me is that there are too many redirects before getting to the page link.
