I hope you’re ready to start walking in a winter wonderland! Because I’ve got the absolute perfect, crafty project to get you in the holiday spirit. One of my most ambitious cut file designs to date—you and your family are sure to love this Christmas village toy store!
Like this design? Consider leaving a tip.
Seriously, how much do you love this!? I know as the creator I’m a little biased, but I think this toy store has got to be one of the cutest paper creations on the plant!
As a child, one of my favorite memories of the holidays was decorating the house; and, like many families, my mom had an adorable little Christmas village. I fondly remember excitedly unwrapping and carefully arranging the buildings and figures each December.
So, I’ve had it in my head to create a Christmas village of my own design for some time now; but, I didn’t want it to be two-dimensional. That’s why, this year, I decided to try my hand at a 3D building! Of course, I want to include more structures in my village, but I had to start somewhere. And what better building to start with than a toy store?
I won’t even tell you how much time went into creating this festive little structure (it’s safe to assume that there is a lot of trial and error when it comes to designing in 3D), but seeing the finished results just fills my heart with so much pride!
And now, I am SO excited share this feeling of joy and accomplishment with you as you make one for yourself!
Supplies
- Cardstock
- Vellum (optional)
- Hot Glue
- Bone Folder (optional)
- A Cutting Machine or X-ACTO knife
- Metalic Marker (optional)
- Foam Tape (optional)
- My Free Template
How to Make
1. Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the toy store pieces.
Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don’t forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the numerous score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you’re not using the SVG file that includes score lines, you can use the PDF version as a reference to know where your folds need to go.
2. Fold and glue your two base pieces. Attach the criss-cross details to the smaller base. DO NOT attach the base section together yet.
3. If you are lining your front windows with vellum, glue those pieces on next.
4. Glue your window, snow, and other structural details onto your walls and roof.
5. Fold out the top left section of the front of the store and attach the small “pop-out” piece to secure it.
6. Fold and glue the left side of your store together.
7. Attach the middle roof pieces to the front and right side of your store by inserting the tabs into the slits. Then attach the right side of your store to the front.
8. You’re finally ready to attach the back!
9. Glue on your roof pieces as well as your hanging sign. Also attach 3 posts to the front of your pop-out section and 4 pieces to the left side like so.
10. Time to attach the base sections. Insert the bottom tabs of your house into the slits in the smaller base section and glue. Repeat for the larger base section.
11. Lastly, attach your toy and wreath accents to the front and sides of your store. Use a metallic marker to add fun details and foam tape to create depth if you wish.
Even though this is a somewhat complex project, I just think it’s amazing what you can create with just a few sheets of paper! I am so excited to add to my Christmas village in the future, and can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s complete (if I ever get to that point).
P.S. I’ve included an opening in the back wall so that you can place an electric tea-light or two inside if you want to see it lit up.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other awesome Christmas freebies available on my blog!
I hope you have as much fun as I did putting this Christmas village toy store together! What would you like to see me add to my Christmas village next?

December 5, 2019 at 1:48 pm (3 years ago)Wow, and wow again. This is the cutest 3d building I have seen in a long time. The building looks like the ones you see in Germany. I will look for a photo and send it to you in a separate email. Your generosity and talent is beyond compare. I can’t even imagine how you managed to design this beautiful building. I hope that when I make one, I can embellish it with all the little touches that are so unique to your designs. You are amazing! Thank you so much!

December 9, 2019 at 9:53 am (3 years ago)I love it! And am trying to make it but am unable to ge the score lines to work in Cricut Design Space. Everytime I try to attached the score lines, it make everything one color… Could you please help me get this figured out.
Mandee
December 10, 2019 at 8:13 am (3 years ago)Sorry you’re having trouble with the score lines! The first thing to do is ungroup the pieces (just once). Then, make sure that you only have the green lines selected when you change them to “score,” and then be sure that you have both the group of score lines as well as the object they need to be associated with selected when you select “attach.”
Hope that helps!

October 14, 2021 at 2:44 pm (1 year ago)I love your 3-D buildings. I started with the Haunted House, which I discovered through a link in an Illissa@Domestic Heights blog. I loved it so much and as I was looking at your other designs, I discovered your Christmas Village items. Thank you for these lovely items. I can’t wait to make them and I hope you will be adding to the Christmas Village. You are so talented!

October 22, 2022 at 6:05 pm (5 months ago)Mandee,
Hafa Adai from Guam. Thanks for the beautiful free cutout file. I wondered what size is best to cut this in, or is it already set when you open the file? I want to ensure I am cutting the file out the right way. Thanks in advance for your help.
Mandee
October 25, 2022 at 11:36 am (5 months ago)Hi Alla! The file is already set to the preferred size. You can always scale it down a little if you want, but you don’t have to. 🙂

Thank you so much for the beautiful files. Your generosity is overwhelming — I can’t believe these files are free. I finished cutting out the Toy Store last night, and I got up extra early this morning to start putting it together. I’m having trouble attaching the light blue awing to the front of the store though. I can’t figure out how to attach everything where that small “pop-out” piece and the awning meet and how the awning wraps around to the back. Any advice?
Mandee
November 14, 2022 at 1:32 pm (4 months ago)I’m so glad you enjoy my designs!
The blue awning piece will attach via tabs that can be inserted into some slits in the front and side pieces. It’s somewhat difficult to explain, but if you look at the first picture under step #7, that will give you the best visual for what I’m talking about. As for the awning wrapping around, it’s just two separate pieces that eventually connect when the front and side pieces come together.
Denise
November 16, 2022 at 5:05 pm (4 months ago)I was referring to the inside corner where the awning meets the “small pop-out piece”. I can see the blue tab in the picture under step #7, but I can’t figure out why/how you can see the tab on the right side (when you are looking at the front of the house). Is there supposed to be a slit in the pop-out piece?
Mandee
November 22, 2022 at 10:16 am (4 months ago)Oh okay, I see what you mean. It’s been while since I made this one, so I’m not 100% sure if there is a slit in the pop-out section (I often test things as I’m going along, and things get tweaked before I finalize the design); but, if not, you could just use that tab to the front wall instead of pulling it through.

November 26, 2022 at 2:07 am (4 months ago)This is adorable. Thank you so much. What size is the store once completed?
Mandee
November 29, 2022 at 11:43 am (4 months ago)Thank you! It comes out to be about 9″ tall with a base of 6.5″x 5″. 🙂
