It’s a magical day! Today’s design is one that is full of whimsy and wonderment. So gather up some cardstock, power up your cutting machine, and start making some enchanting, die cut fairies.
I am SO excited about these fairies! I’ve been wanting to create some more mythical creatures ever since I shared my mermaid and unicorn designs a while back. I’m so glad I finally made some time to add these adorable fairies to my collection!
My favorite part about designing these fairies was coming up with all the different accessories. I wanted to create a variety of interchangeable items, so that you would be able to assemble your own, unique pixies. So, included in the design is:
- 1 Fairy Silhouette
- 3 Wings
- 2 Dresses/Accessories
- 2 Hair Styles
- Shoes
- And a Hat
With all these fun design elements to choose from, and the ability to use any combination of cardstock colors you’d like, the options are literally endless!
I even mixed and matched different textures of paper. Each of the wings include a layer a vellum, which I feel turned out really nicely! I also, utilized some pearlescent paper, metallic cardstock, and glitter paper.
For the wings, I decided to go with a 3D effect by designing them to be folded in half. I really like the way it looks, but if that doesn’t work for your application, you can always cut the wings down the middle and attach them to lay flat.
I think these would just look adorable hanging above a child’s bed! And they would be the perfect addition to an indoor fairy garden.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other awesome freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy making some die cut fairies of your own! Who do you know that would love one of these darling little pixies?

March 2, 2020 at 10:56 am (4 years ago)Thanks Nadia! I just layered each of the accessories on one at a time. For the wings, I glued the vellum layer onto one of the cardstock layers (all the way around). After that, I added another cardstock layer, but only glued it in the center. Then, I just folded the wings in half and glued the folded edge on the back of my fairy. 🙂
