Lady and the Tramp Paper Lantern

Oh, this is the night, it’s a beautiful night. Day or night, today is definitely beautiful, because I get to share the latest design in my Disney Paper Lanterns series! Even though Valentine’s Day has passed, it’s not too late to find romance in this lovely Lady and the Tramp paper lantern.

This was actually one of the first requests I received when I began my Disney Paper Lanterns series. It’s taken me a long time to get to it, but better late than never, right?

For this designs, I really wanted to focus in on the most iconic scene in the movie (and one of the most iconic movie moments of all time)—the spaghetti scene. So, I made Lady and Tramp the focal point, and had the all important strand of spaghetti span two panels. When you look at the lantern at an angle, you get the perfect view of the cute couple.

To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.

I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website.

Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly. If you run into any trouble, be sure to check out this video for more tips!

Could i ask what brand of paper you used? I’ve set my settings to max cut and I used this brazzil paperwork and it cut, but alot of parts didn’t cut all the way through, I spent an hour weeding ,before I have up! however I used this black magic paper and it cut fine, but I can only seem to find a few different colors. Please help! I also did mess with the pressure settings and that didn’t work.

Hi Josh! I use the Recollections brand cardstock most often. Also, I don’t know if the paper you are using is textured, but your cutting machine may be having difficulties with the level of detail and cutting all the way through if the material is textured. Hope that helps! 🙂
