It’s hard to tell in the pictures, but I used frosted white paper and a slightly metallic gold velum for this one. It looks really spectacular in person!

A couple months ago, I shared my Star Wars, Dark Side paper lantern design. Now, I’m really excited to have the match for it!

The hardest park about this design was finding enough room to fit all the awesome characters in! And, when I thought I was done, I realized that I hadn’t included a porg. I knew my sons would be very upset if porg didn’t make an appearance in this one (my 3-year-old has a stuffed porg he takes EVERYWHERE). So, I made sure to sneak a porg behind Rey’s shoulder. Did you notice this cute little guy before?

To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.

I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website.

Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly. If you run into any trouble, be sure to check out this video for more tips!

I loved these Star Wars lanterns and thought they would make a great replacement as a birthday card for my teenage nephew. I wish the pattern had score lines. I found the folding to be very difficult especially around the laser sabre on the Light Side pattern. I tried to score my own lines but it was still tricky. I still think the nephew will like them though. Maybe after a few more tries I’ll get the hang of folding them. P.S. I did watch Mandee’s folding video, repeatedly to make sure I was getting it right. Thanks for a great pattern!

Follow up, I made the 3 Star Wars lanterns. It was a lot easier with the Score lines on the Dark Side and Mandalorian. I also used double backed tape to keep the vellum attached on the interior and hot glue on the perimeter. Wish there was a way to attach a photo. This was a fun project. Thank you Mandee!

Hi! We are going to make these for our wedding coming up. What kind of paper did you use on the inside? I was hoping to put flameless candles in them, but the cardstock I have would be too thick. Thank you!!!

How fun!! I used translucent vellum to line these lanterns. You can get it in different colors on Amazon, or you can usually find it in white at crafts stores. 🙂
