Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil, if she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will. Today’s design pays homage to a classic Disney film, and will go marvelously with your lineup of luminaries. Make this 101 Dalmatians paper lantern for yourself or any of the dog-lovers in your life.
With over 30 designs in my Disney Paper Lanterns collection, you would think that the series would be pretty much complete. But I do still receive requests fairly often, and this movie has been at the top of the list!
I actually just watched 101 Dalmatians with my kiddos recently, and they really enjoyed it. Their favorite part was when Rolly (the puppy) says, “I’m so hungry I could eat a…a whole elephant.”
They thought that line was hysterical, and now it’s made its way into their daily vocabulary.
Choosing which scene(s) to include in the design is always difficult, but I decided to keep it more positive and happy with all the puppies, Pongo, and Perdita hanging out together, watching TV. As opposed to them fleeing for their lives. But, of course, I had to include the wretched woman looming in the background.
To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website.
Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly. If you run into any trouble, be sure to check out this video for more tips!
Enjoy putting this striking 101 Dalmatians paper lantern together! What do you remember most from this fun film?
