I’ve mentioned before that I have an interest in birds, and out of all the birds out there, peacocks may just be the most difficult to not take an interest in when you cross their path. Their colors alone are incredibly striking—but paired with their large size and long feathers—these birds are truly a marvel!

Since peafowl aren’t native to Utah, I have only ever seen them at zoos and farms. But, with the way they just roam the grounds at will, they really feel like “wild” birds when I see them.

Just for fun, I thought I would share a few facts about peacocks:

  • Peacocks are a part of the pheasant family (a bird I’m much more familiar with, here in Utah)
  • A family of peafowl is called a “Bevy”
  • They are omnivorous birds
  • Peacocks shed their train of feathers every year after mating season

Beautiful. I love these peacocks. Hope there will be more birds coming soon. I also love the birds, as we live in the country we are able to watch so many wonderful little flying jewels. Cardinals, chickadees and so many others all would also make great cutting files.

How fun! It’s always great when you can see cute birds in your own back yard. We have a family of quail that live nearby, and I just think they are the most adorable little birds ever!!

Your peacocks are absolutely gorgeous. I love the information that you gave on the birds as well, I did not know that they were closely related to pheasants, another beautiful bird! When Peacocks call out, it sound like a baby crying. There were wild flocks of them in Arizona and they often visited my mother’s property and were fascinating to watch. Thank you so much for yet another beautiful cut file.

Thanks Kathy! I didn’t know that’s what they sound like—could be scary if you randomly heard them calling out in the middle of the night!!

It’s wonderful, how did you put the eye in and the white dots in the feathers please?

Thanks! I traced the holes with a pencil, and then uses a paint marker to fill in the dots with white. 🙂

J’adore les paons. Chaque année, je retrouve ces magnifiques oiseaux sur mon lieu de vacances. En France, le cri du paon c’est “Léon, Léon”
    Merci pour ce fichier
