Mandalorian Paper Lantern

This is the way. I am excited to present another addition to my Disney Paper Lanterns series today, and new design from the Star Wars universe! Featuring Baby Yoda/Grogu and the famous bounty hunter himself: feast your eyes on this Mandalorian paper lantern.

After sharing my Light Side and Dark Side lantern designs not too long ago, I have been getting a lot of requests for a Mandalorian paper lantern. It turns out that my family isn’t the only one that has been enjoying the streaming series!

My husband and I loved watching the first season together. The second season honestly started a little slow for me, but I really loved the last few episodes. Seeing some of the well known Star Wars characters come into play was really cool, and witnessing the Mandalorian’s relationship with Grogu develop was really fun.

To learn how to assemble my paper lanterns, see this tutorial.

I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website.

Like most all my paper lanterns, removing the final design from your cutting mat is as much of an art as the cut itself, so be sure to go slowly. If you run into any trouble, be sure to check out this video for more tips!

I LOVE your lanterns! They’re all so gorgeous! Have you thought about doing a Jungle Cruise and/or Tiki Room one?

Thanks Sara! I have thought about Disney attraction-themed ones, but I just haven’t gotten around to most of them yet. Those would be cute, though!!

I am doing 16 of your lanterns for my granddaughters wedding in May. I have done 15 of the Disney princesses and the Star Wars Dark Side. She is also requesting an Avengers Lantern. Have you done one of those yet…I looked and didn’t see one. If you could design one of those that would be awesome!!!! Thank you.

I would like to make this Mandalorian lantern w/my Cricut Joy. I am having trouble resizing the lantern and the liner in similar size. I tried to contour the bottom of the lantern but that wasn’t possible. Would like to make this for my son’s upcoming birthday. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi Laura! Sorry you are having trouble. I’m not sure what program you are using for the purpose of editing the design, but you are right to try and slice the bottom portion off. You would then need to add an extra tab to the other side. I’m not sure what size the whole thing needs to be to fit with a Cricut Joy, but you may still need to scale the whole thing down slightly after that too.

If you are using Adobe Illustrator for the design editing process, let me know, and I can give you some instructions on how you can do what I mentioned above!

Thanks for your quick reply. I’m using Cricut design space. The maximum width is 4.5″ on CJ. I’ve got the liner sized to 4.5″ x 9.892″. The lantern w/bottom is sized at 4.5″x 6.156.” If I could just slice off the bottom portion but design space doesn’t give me that option in Contour.

Hmm, I wonder why it’s not letting you remove it. I will try and find some time to make a video tutorial about this. But, until then, maybe this video will give you some useful tips:
