Today’s design is the stuff of legends! Quite literally. So gather up your crafting supplies, power up your cutting machine, and let’s make an epic, die cut dragon.
It’s been a while since I have created any mythical creatures. These are some others I’ve shared in the past:
But this collection just didn’t seem complete without a fire-breathing dragon!
As someone who has always enjoyed fantasy books, this dragon was really fun to work on! Sketching out all the details and deciding what kind of elements I wanted to include was a really fun part of the process for me. In the end, I decided to go with a more “fierce” dragon, rather than a cartoony rendition.
My dragon needed a little bit of texture and depth, so I added some shading to the body and wings using ink. I also attached the legs with foam tape to give them a little more dimension as well.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other awesome freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy making this die cut dragon! I hope you have as much fun putting it together as I did. Be sure to share your results with me on Instagram!
