The idea for these designs really came out of nowhere; so, when I wrote it in my planner, I wasn’t at all sure what I was going to do exactly. Once I started looking at reference photos, sketching ideas, and trying to imagine what kinds of perfume bottles would draw my eye, things really started to take shape. And, honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the end results!
Supplies
- Cardstock
- Hot Glue
- Small Rope & Thread
- Decorative Beads (optional)
- Bone Folder (optional)
- A Cutting Machine or X-ACTO knife
- My Free Template
How to Make It
1. Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the 3D perfume bottle pieces.
Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don’t forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you’re having trouble with the score lines, check out this video.
Assembling the Round Bottle
2. Start by sorting all your round perfume bottle pieces, and layering the front and side embellishment pieces together.
Then, use the score lines to fold and glue the tapered gold, top section. Attach it to the top of the bottle using the tabs and slits provided.
Fold in the side tabs, and start attaching your front piece. Stay close to the round edges of the bottle, and glue 1-2 tabs at a time until you’ve worked your way around. Repeat for the backside.
3. Next, fold the base peices along the score lines, and glue the tabs to the bottom of the bottle.
Note: The photo doesn’t show it well, but there are 4 base pieces in all: 2 long, curved ones as shown, and 2 rectangular ones that attach to both the bottle and the inside of the curved feet as well.
After those are attached, glue the decorative elements to the front, back, and sides of your bottle.
4. Assemble your atomizer ball.
The assembly for this is very similar to that of my 3D hot air balloon (on a smaller scale). Start by curling each of the pieces so that they take on a rounded shape. Then, start gluing the tabs to the inside of one of the other sections, one at a time. Add on, one section at a time, gluing 1-2 tabs at a time.
When you get to the last one, don’t glue the final edge just yet.
5. Finish your bottle by assembling the sprayer, attaching the rope, and adding a tassel.
To make the sprayer, curl the small rectangular piece, attach the end tab to the inside to form a cylinder. Then, glue the small circle on the top, and attach the whole thing to the top of your bottle.
Glue the rope to the inside of your atomizer ball, and add a tassel to the other end if you wish. Then, finish glueing the last side of your atomizer ball, and attach the other end of the rope to the back of the sprayer with a generous dab of hot glue.
Assembling the Tall Bottle
6. Once again, start by sorting all your perfume bottle pieces, and layering the front and side embellishment pieces together.
Then assemble the top portion and attach the front pieces to the side strip, similarly to the previous bottle (see step 2).
7. Attach your decorative elements like so.
Assemble the stopper using the little tabs provided. Then, glue it to the top of the bottle.
Finally, add any decorative pearls, gems, or hand drawn elements that you see fit!
I mean, just look at that atomizer ball—it doesn’t get much cuter than that! Your friends will definitely think you are a master paper crafter when you show them these 3D perfume bottles.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other 3D freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy making your very own, 3D perfume bottles! I hope you have as much fun putting them together as I did. Be sure to share your exquisite results with me on Instagram!
