While I have visited the great state of Kentucky before, I’ve never been to the Kentucky Derby. It’s something I have always wanted to attend, though! Mostly, I just want an excuse to wear an over-the-top hat!

In fact, I actually started collecting fancy hats a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have precious few opportunities to wear them. I need to start attending a church where women still wear hats to the service. Until then, at least they work nice as references for designs like this, and make lovely props for these photos.

I think these derby hat designs would would look stunning as part of a card or tea party invitation. Very classy!

Je n’étais pas venue depuis un petit moment.
Tu nous proposes toujours des réas plus magnifiques les unes que les autres.

Mandee, the race you should attend is Royal Ascot. You will feel like it is Easter morning at the turn of the century and everyone is dressed to the hilt. Ladies in long dresses and huge hats, frilly sun umbrellas, and men in mourning suits. We were way way way underprepared when we went, but we were welcomed and even picked up a little at the betting window. You will see the royals arrive in a carriage. Don’t plan on bringing your camera though. This is one for your memory and not for your camera. Take the train from London for the full experience.
