The weather is warm, and the bugs are starting to make themselves known. But, today’s design is inspired by an insect that isn’t a pest to have around. Add a few of these die cut dragonflies to your next summer project, and give it a colorful, whimsical touch.

I was just going to do one style of wings when I started this design, but couldn’t decide exactly what pattern I wanted to go with. So, I ended up making three!
Now, between the three different designs and infinite options for paper/material, your dragonflies can be as unique as you’d like! Add a layer of vellum under the wings to give them even more dimension.
I always loved seeing dragonflies in the summer! My grandmother lived in the country, and for a few days each summer, there would be dragonflies absolutely everywhere. When this would happen, my cousin and I would get so excited! We’d each grab a grocery sack and run around the yard, trying to catch one. We never actually caught a dragonfly that way, but we still did this every year, and always had a great time.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy putting these die cut dragonflies to good use. And don’t forget to share your lovely, finished creations with me on Instagram!
