Seashell Boxes – Summer Cut Files

We are headed to the seaside, once again, for another fun papercraft! Gather up some shimmer cardstock, and let’s make some opulent seashell boxes together.

These boxes came together even more beautifully than I had hoped. I have a limited selection of shimmer/pearlescent cardstock on hand, but the three colors I do have (off-white, pink, and purple) just happened to go together perfectly for this project!

How to Make It

1. Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all the pieces of the seashell boxes.

Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don’t forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending them through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you’re having trouble with the score lines, check out this video.

2. Start by folding the long strip along the score lines. Then, attach the ends to the inside of the back of box, and the little tabs around the bottom perimeter.

Then, attach the liner to the inside: covering the bottom tabs.

3. With the body of the box assembled, add the three seashell pieces: one on the bottom, one on the top, and the small one on the inside of the lid.

Finish with some decorative gems/ribbon if you want to add a bit more pizzaz. To close the lid, Insert the little tab into the slit provided.

These seashells would make the perfect favor boxes for a mermaid-themed birthday party! I also think they would be a really cute container for giving someone pearl jewelry. Can you imagine opening one of these up and finding a set of pearl earrings inside? So adorable!

I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!
