As long as you love me so, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Here in northern Utah, we have seen our fair share of snow recently. And while my back has been protesting all the shoveling, the view from my office window has sure been pretty. So, let’s celebrate this frosty weather with some intricately layered snowflake ornaments!

This lovely design was picked by my wonderful patrons! Each month, my Patreon subscribers help me choose a couple of the projects I create, and this design was one of the top picks for December.

I’ve included four different snowflake designs in this set, and two different backers. If you want to keep things simple, you can just cut out the snowflake designs. But if you really want to take these ornaments to the next level, attach them to one of the enchanting little ornament backers.
To create the fan ornament: fold the rectangular strip along the score lines: alternating direction with each fold. Then, loop the end around and attach the little tab. Pop the fan design outward to form a circle, and add some hot glue to the center to hold it in place. Layer on the circular motifs, snowflake design, and a string, and you’re finished!
To create the shaker ornament: first, layer the border pieces on top of the mylar circle. Then, take the back piece, and add a [thin] layer or two of foam tape around the perimeter. Sprinkle in some confetti and/or small beads. Carefully place the mylar piece on top, the snowflake design to the front, add a string, and you’re finished!
These ornaments make for a lovely, handmade gift or a great addition to your own Christmas tree. I especially love how the shaker ornaments sparkle when they catch the light!
I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy putting these layered snowflake ornaments together. And don’t forget to share your festive finished products with me on Instagram!
