It is officially sweater weather…at least here in the northern hemisphere (sorry to exclude all my Australian and South African friends in that statement). In Northern Utah, it has gone from temperate 72° weather to mid 40°’s overnight. So, I think it’s time to share an autumn project with you! Bust out those nice warm-tone papers, because today we are making a fun, fall pop-up card.

This pretty design was picked by my wonderful patrons! Each month, my Patreon subscribers help me choose a couple of the projects I create, and this design was one of the top picks for the month of October.

I have shied away from card-making over the years, only because I see so many beautiful handmade cards out there; and so I often think, “Man, I can’t compete with that.” But I’ve been trying my hand at more and more card designs lately, and I am having a lot of fun with them!
A little while ago, I shared a graveyard card for Halloween. That was my first time combining the gate-fold style with a pop-up element, and I was honestly obsessed with how it came out! That’s why I just had to do another one for fall.
Note: This design includes score lines, interior cut lines, and some pen elements. Be sure to attach everything to their shapes before sending them to cut! If you don’t have these extra tools, you can use the alternative version of the design (the “no score lines” file). If you are having trouble setting up this cut file, check out this video tutorial.
I have been looking for an excuse for a while now to include a snail in one of my designs, and I finally found one! How cute does he look—all cozy with those mushrooms?
I use Adobe Illustrator for all my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy making this fall pop-up card for yourself! And, as always, be sure to share your finished results with me on Instagram.
