Supplies

How to Make It

1. Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pieces for your fancy envelope boxes.

Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don’t forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending them through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you’re having trouble with the score lines, check out this video.

Layering Your Pieces

2. Layer all of the decorative panels like so. Then, layer on the fine-detailed pieces in the center of each of the rectangular strips.

Assembling the Box

3. Fold along the score lines of each of your box pieces and then lay everything flat, with the decorative sides facing up. Attach the two smaller flaps to the shorter ends of the base, and the two larger flaps to the longer ends of the base.

With everything attached to the base, flip it over and fold each of the sides up. Attach the little tabs to the inside of each of the box walls.

Fold the two shorter flaps in first, then the two larger ones over them, with the detailed flap on the very top.

Assembling the “Wax Seal”

4. Layer the three pieces of the heart-shaped “wax seal.” Add glue to the backside of the seal, but only on the bottom portion (leave some space for the flap to be able to slip inside).

Attach the seal to the lower flap on your envelope box, and your pretty project is complete!

Compared to some of my other designs, these boxes are fairly simple to put together, but super pretty and practical nonetheless! I designed them to be just slightly larger than standard 5″x7″ greeting cards, so that you really could use them as storage boxes for cards, or as a keepsake box for sweet letters that you might have.

Of course, they work pretty darn well as treat boxes too, though!

Fancy Envelope Boxes

I use Adobe Illustrator for all of my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!

Enjoy putting these fancy envelope boxes together. And don’t forget to share your fun finished projects with me on Instagram!

I am over the mood about these boxes! I am also happy because they are 5 x 7, which is the size cards that I make. Hopefully I will be able to make them with all of your fabulous instructions. Thank you so much!

Yay! Yes, I wanted them to be able to store 5×7 cards, so I’m glad that feature will be useful to you! Have fun putting them together. 😊
