2024 Layered Cat Calendar

As 2023 draws to a close, it’s time to start preparing for a “paw-some” new year! So, let’s take on one last crafty project, and add a little kitty cuteness to your desk with this 2024 layered cat calendar.

Each of these designs is in PNG format and is set up to work with Cricut’s “print then cut” feature. The backgrounds for each design are all white; but, you can use whatever color paper suits your fancy. I wanted an array of colorful kitties for my calendar, so that’s what I chose to do.

If you don’t have a cutting machine, or if your machine doesn’t support “print then cut,” you can use the PDF version of the design to cut the calendars out by hand. Compared to a lot of my projects, this one isn’t terribly difficult to cut by hand, so it shouldn’t give you too much trouble.

Honestly, each of the papers I used are all very different, so it doesn’t really matter, as long as the paper is weighty enough to stand up and not too dark (so that the machine can read the registration marks). 😊

Thanks so much for the adorable calendar. I am confused as to how you cut it on colored paper with the Cricut print and cut as I thought it had to be on white paper? When I upload it, I get a “low resolution” message as it can hardly see where to cut the cat out. Please advise and thanks! Happy New Year!

I used a variety of papers. As long as the cardstock is thick enough to stand on its own you should be good. 🙂

Great job, so cute and so simple! This is absolutely adorable, can’t wait to get started on this! Not sure if it’s your thing or not, but it would be really cool to have this as an SVG so one could make these using Draw and Cut.

Thank you for the cat calendar. I’ve downloaded it and plan to make it. I need some instruction though. Is it made with card stock? I am assuming I will have to cut down the size of the card stock in order for it to fit in my printer? When finished, do they just stack, or they connected in some way? you just stand them up? I’m looking forward to making this. Thanks again, Carole

Yes, I used 8.5″x11″ cardstock to print the designs on. They aren’t connected in any way, and just stack on top of one another—held up by a place card holder (in this case). Feel free to check out the new tutorial I shared if you are having any trouble:

They aren’t supposed to print any outlines where the cuts will be. It’s up to your machine to read the registration marks in order to know where to place the cuts. If your machine is having trouble reading the registration marks, be sure that you aren’t using paper that is too dark in color and that there isn’t a light shining directly above it.

When I do the print then cut feature in Design Space, it is only cutting a square around the calendar and not the scalloped edges. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm, I’m not really sure why that would happen. Double check that none of your pieces are overlapping on the page. That’s the only thing I can think of.
