Hark! The herald angels sing, “Glory to the new-born king.” Today’s papercraft may be simple to assemble, but you can be sure that it will still have the angels raising up their voices in song. So, gather a few sheets of paper, turn up the Christmas music, and make this layered nativity ornament with me.

This design is actually based on a larger nativity shadowbox project I shared a couple of weeks ago. As a way to share even more layered design goodness, I’ve opened an Etsy shop focused on cake toppers and shadowbox designs. The shop is called Layers & All!
I don’t know how often I’ll be able to create new products for this shop, but I’m hoping to be able to add something new here and there whenever I have an idea for a design, but not enough room in my regular posting schedule.
Watch a short video of me putting this project together on Instagram.

I just love seeing layered designs like these take shape as I gradually add pieces to the framework! I used foam tape to separate most of the layers in this project, and give the ornament more depth, but glue also works perfectly well. If you are having trouble figuring out which piece goes where definitely check out the layering order guide that I included in the download.
I use Adobe Illustrator for all my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!
Enjoy making this layered nativity ornament for yourself! I’d love to see your results, so be sure to share them with me by either tagging me on Instagram or by sharing your work in my Facebook Group.

Thank you so much for all you do!
