As you can probably tell, I had such a fun time designing this one! From start to finish, this project was just a really great outlet for my creativity. Plus, I got to incorporate lots of pink paper, and that is always a win in my book.

Retro Viewfinder Greeting Card

Learn how to assemble this vintage card that includes a rotating wheel of film!

Materials

Instructions

  • Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pieces of this retro viewfinder greeting card.
Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don’t forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending them through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you’re having trouble with the score lines, check out this video.
  • Start by attaching the large black and white pieces to the interior of the card.
Then, flip the card over and attach the decorative blue panels to the front/back of the card.
Next, attach the black viewfinder piece to the front of the card, lining up the portions with the hole. There is also a little black circle that you can layer on the end of the viewfinder handle with some foam tape if you’d like.
  • Layer the dark red outline of the viewfinder on top of the lighter red backing piece. Then, attach the three layers of each lens sections together with foam tape and attach them to the front as well.
Note: As you may notice, I messed up here and actually attached the black baking at this stage. I did have to remove it and attach it to the card first, as shown in the previous step.
Layer the film reel together, as well as the little banner pieces. Use a white pen/marker to add a message to your film reel, if you would like.
  • Take the remaining three, black circles and attach them together with foam tape in between the layers. Then, place the whole thing into the circular hole on the front of the card.
Add some glue to the top circle, and attach it to the center of the film reel.
Add a couple layers of foam tape to the back of the viewfinder—making sure to avoid the areas where the reel needs to spin. Attach the whole thing to the front.
Write a little message on the banner, place it just below the viewfinder, and your card is complete!

Notes

This is a standard 5"x7" card, and will fit in an A7 envelope.

Kissing Booth

Learn how to assemble my cute little kissing booth treat box for Valentine's Day.

Materials

Instructions

  • Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pieces of this kissing booth treat holder.

Assembling the Bottom

  • Start by taking the large maroon piece and folding it along the score lines. Use glue to attach the top section to the sides, along with the little flap in the front.
Before attaching the bottom portion, take your rectangular maroon piece that has tabs on all four sides. Position it inside of the box and slip each of those tabs into the slits provided.
Then, fold the bottom flap up and attach it to the side walls. Glue each of the little tabs down as well.
  • Next, attach the decorative panels to the back and sides of the box.
Take the maroon piece that has the heart cut-out and fold along the score lines. Glue the last decorative panel to the inside of the back wall, and the clear film piece to the inside of the front wall.
Fold the whole thing into a box with an open top, and use the tabs to attach it all together.
Use hot glue to attach some “drawer pulls” to the front of the box. I used bits of ribbon, but beads would work as well.
Now you can slide the whole thing into the open space in the front of the kissing booth base.

Assembling the Countertop

  • Gather your pink countertop piece, along with your four white beam pieces.
Fold one of your beam pieces along the score lines. Attach the long end tab to the inside to form a skinny rectangular shape. Repeat with the other three beams.
Next, take your countertop piece and fold along the score lines. Use the little tabs to connect the sides together.

Assembling the Pig

  • Layer the pieces of the pig together. I used glue to attach the face to the black piece but used foam tape to attach the rest of the pieces (for added depth). I also used markers to add a few details to give my piggy some character.
Then, attach the three little hearts to a short length of string, and attach the ends to piggy’s hooves.

Final Assembly

  • Take the canopy piece and attach each of the white stripes to the top—skipping every other scallop to create a pattern.
Gather the four posts you assembled previously. Two will be slightly longer and two slightly shorter, and each one will have an angled end. Use the slits in the corners of the countertop piece to attach the longer posts to the back and the shorter posts to the front. Be sure that the flat end is attached to the countertop and the angled end is at the top.
Use the two remaining slits in the center of the countertop to attach the pig.
Then, fold the little tabs on the top of the posts inward and glue the canopy to them.
  • Take the two completed sections (the base of the kissing booth and the countertop/canopy), and glue them together.
Layer your sandwich board pieces together, along with the 5-cent sign.
Attach the balloons and the sign to the front of your kissing booth, fold your sandwich board, and fill your box with kisses!

Notes

When assembled, this project is about 7" tall, 5.5" wide, and 2.75" deep.

Kissing Booth

I actually had this whole thing ready to go, but thought of adding the little piggy in there at the last minute. This kissing booth just wouldn’t be complete without someone to draw in the customers!
