Bachelorette Party Game – Bachelorette Balderdash

Holy cow, can you believe August is coming to a close? It’s been an eventful month for me! Here are just a few of the adventures the Thomas family has experienced: moving into our first home, my little sister getting married, Isaac and I celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, and tomorrow my brother is getting married too (we just all love August weddings I guess). I can’t believe all that has happened and all that is still happening this moth. A couple weeks ago, I threw my sister a bridal shower and shared a couple games we played; this week, I threw my soon-to-be sister-in-law a bachelorette party, and today I’d like to share with you a fun bachelorette party game we played—Bridal Balderdash!

Bridal Balderdash is a game that came straight from the head of your’s truly. It has similarities to the game Balderdash (go figure) and the game Things. If you’re good at making up really silly and/or weird answers to prompts, then you’ll kill it in this game!

All you need is:

  • The Bridal Balderdash prompts
  • Scraps of paper for players to use each round
  • Pens or pencils

So, like I said, I just made up this game, so feel free to change any of these rules to you’re liking.

Here is how we played:

The hostess reads each prompt one at a time. Everyone writes down an answer to the prompt on their scrap of paper (except the bride), and throws the paper into a pile or in a bowl. Once everyone has thrown in their answers, the bride then states the correct answer to the prompt. The hostess then reads all the answers given at random. If any players gave the correct answer, then they receive one point. Then, the bride gets to pick which answer she thought was the funniest or most clever: the author of that answer also receives one point for that round. The person who has the most points at the end of all 10 rounds wins!

Example

Prompt:  The bride’s favorite thing to do…

Bride’s answer: Go hiking

Player 1: Take her pet walrus for a swim

Player 2: Go hiking

Player 3: Microwave marshmallows and watch them explode

Player 4: Sort through M&Ms, order then by color of the rainbow, then take the brown ones and throw them at passersby

Player 2 gets a point for having the correct answer, and the bride thought player 4’s answer was the most creative, so they get a point too!

Bachelorette Party Game

As a player you basically have two options, try to guess the correct answer, or make up something totally off the wall and weird in hopes that the bride will pick yours (my personal favorite way of playing).

What I like about this game is that there is almost zero preparation involved, and you make it what you want: silly, quirky, or even dirty (it is a bachelorette party after all). Plus, it’s a great game for any group size!

What bachelorette party games have you played that were memorable or fun?
