Now that the days are getting longer and the weather is starting to heat up, I’m ready for some warm weather fun! The time for outdoor family activities and adventures is almost upon us, and I’m ecstatic. Last year, we met up with my husband’s family at the nearby lake; we played in the sun, enjoyed popsicles, and swam to our heart’s content. Davian loved playing in the shallow water and in the sand. This year, we’re planning a similar trip, and I’ve come up with a cute way to make some personalized beach pails that I’m thrilled to share with you today!
When we went to the lake last year, for some reason, bringing sand toys didn’t even cross my mind. Luckily, Grammie thought ahead and brought a shovel and some cups for him to play in the sand with. This year, I’m going to be more on top of things, and I thought it would fun to make some personalized beach pails—one for him, and one for his cousin, Ella. Follow along, and see how to add a super cute whale or starfish monogram to your child’s sand toys.
What you Need
How to Make
1. Pick your monogram design, and cut out your vinyl. I’ve included some smaller whales and starfish that you can use as extra embellishments.
2. Place your vinyl shapes on your beach pail.
3. Coat your design with a couple layers of waterproof Mod Podge to seal it.
4. Allow Mod Podge to dry, and your personalized beach pails are complete!
This is a simple DIY, but I feel like it adds a fun touch! Plus, if you have multiple kiddos, it’s a great way for everyone to keep track of their own set of sand toys (I was a kid once, I know how important it is to know which things belong to whom).
As a former competitive swimmer, lifeguard, and swim instructor, having my kids be comfortable in the water at a young age is extremely important to me! We started taking Davian swimming at four months old, and haven’t stopped. It makes me so happy to see him have fun at the pool and the beach.
